⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Four Felons and a Funeral is a new musical by GOYA theatre company. It is one of two shows they have brought to the Fringe this year, the other being ‘Actually, Love’ (a review of which can also be found on the blog).

The musical tells the story of four friends who have stolen the ashes of their best friend ‘Charlie’ from his father who we are told never cared for him whilst he was alive. It takes the audience along with the four as they battle to have Charlie’s last wish realised - to have his ashes scattered in the Guinness factory in Dublin.

I absolutely loved this show, especially the range of emotions and how realistic these characters seemed, even though we only had an hour in their company, the world building was brilliant, thanks to the writing by Sam Woof and Màth Roberts; I was even left wanting a sequel! Of course the fantastic writing would be nowhere without the brilliant cast of the show.

This is absolutely an ensemble show, so I cannot single out a single member of this sensational cast, all of them are able to brilliantly carry out the comedy of the piece, whilst also being able to stir up the emotions the characters are feeling as tensions run throughout the group.

This show has firmly cemented Goya’s place as a company to watch very closely and I look forward to seeing what is yet to come.

Four Felons and a Funeral runs at the Pleasance Courtyard daily at 13.45 and their other show, Actually, Love runs at 15.45.
