Eloise Davies and Courtney Stapleton (Credit: Jenya Steanson) Last Wednesday, the Barn Theatre set out on one of their most ambitious streams ye, a fully live, one-shot song cycle recorded around the theatre itself. Over the past 12 months, the Barn has brought us some of the most ambitious and best streams including the Secret Society Of Leading Ladies which ran in February and the Picture of Dorian Gray which has recently been extended until the 17th April.
The song cycle features 8 songs written by Matthew Harvey and a starry cast featuring many West End stars including Courtney Stapleton, most recently seen in Dear Evan Hansen and Ahmed Hamad seen recently in the Hope Mill Theatre’s stunning production of Rent. The songs chronicle the 7 character’s last day on Earth after we hear a news report by the legend that is Janie Dee telling us that the ozone layer has been depleted making the Earth extremely vulnerable.
A real stand out of this cycle is the instantly relatable song performed by Katie Sherman chronicling her decision to get a dog which quickly goes from her want for only one dog to getting the whole lot and some kittens. Although the best number has to be the finale number performed by the whole cast which is both incredibly uplifting and hugely emotional.
Now Or Never will be available for on-demand streaming from the 15th April to the 9th May with tickets at just £5. The Barn Theatre is also currently showing a range of amazing shows including The Picture of Dorian Gray and The Elephant In The Garden.
