⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Sheldrake On Shakespeare: Live! is a stand-up/lecture hybrid from English teacher James Sheldrake. It takes audiences on a journey through Shakespeare, looking both at the man himself and 5 of his characters who will form a fantasy dinner party.

I’ll admit that although I call myself a fan of the bard, I do not necessarily know everything about every play and so I was looking forward to learning more. Despite this, I was unsure about what this show would actually consist of and I was pleasantly surprised to find this to be at the same time an English lesson and hilariously funny.

Sheldrake was brilliant in this show, this show could have easily been boring, but he has perfectly crafted this show to be the perfect mix of fact and comedy. It is helped greatly by his own charm, winning over the audience early on.

The anecdotes told by Sheldrake about his own experiences performing small parts in various Shakespeare plays were all hilarious, especially one regarding a production of The Merchant of Venice on a lake which is a may have seemed like a good idea, but ended up being a bit of a logistical disaster.

Unfortunately I attended the last night of Sheldrake on Shakespeare, but the show lives on in Sheldrake’s podcast of the same name which can be found on all good podcast platforms, I for one will be listening to it at my first opportunity.
